Has anyone read a good Table saw book like the one offered by Mr Hylton on Routers or the Bandsaw book by Lonnie Bird? I just bought the Hitachi C10FL and want to be sure it’s tuned properly, if that’s possible. I just took it out of the box and it appears to run fine but it’s not as quiet as everyone claims it should be. Perhaps because I had the blade rolled up as far as it would go. Anyway, I checked the blade against the miter slot and all that appeared to be fine. Any suggestions?

I have not read either of these books, but both of them have come highly recommended to me:
The Accurate Tablesaw, by Ian Kirby
The Table Saw Book, by Kelly Mehler
Is the Hitachi a direct-drive saw, or is it belt-driven? Usually the direct-drive saws are louder, from what I understand.
My recommendation: Put on the hearing protection and make some sawdust :).

Thanks Robb. Looks like a good place to start.

I just take a look at the ad from Passion for Wood . .. the instructional DVD . . . at the bottom of the page. I popped over there this evening and this guy has a video (10 hrs I think) on how to fine tune and set up a TS. Looks interesting.
EDIT: The ad is on the bottom of the LJ page. Sorry.
