I was born and raised in Oregon and we lived all over the western half, mostly on the coast.
I have been married to my wonderful wife Marilyn for 36 years, we have three children and six grandchildren, and Molly dog.
I have worked as a Logger,Timber Faller,Construction worker, Janitor, Garbage Collector, Landscape Maintenance and also worked in the oil fields of Montana, N.Dakota and Wyoming as a roustabout, a pumper, and as a technician on electrical submersible pumps and hydraulic pumps.
I currently work in a custom cabinet shop doing bids, sales, and cad design for cabinets, Corian, and granite.
My interests are in people, photography, cooking, camping, hiking and woodworking.

If someone else can make something so can you!

Dont be afraid to try something new, we learn from our mistakes and we dont make mistakes just doing what we are good at.
Set small reasonable goals, plan your steps, be patient, congratulate yourself on small gains, practice all your tool setups on scraps, make a test box alongside your project box.
The biggest cause of failure for me was time. Dont set a time limit, its not a race. Your goal is to take however much time at every step of the way to get it done correctly and then move on to the next step. If you hurry you will make more mistakes and risk injury too.

I am always willing to share what I know with anyone, I will do my best to answer all questions. Most of your questions are likely answered already in the writeups and my comments under each box, and the rest are found in the blog for theses boxes.
Feel free to contact me if you still need help.

Andy

Welcome! Glad to see another photographer. Your link to Flickr is broken, the last four characters didn’t get included.

Very nice shot of Crater Lake …gotta make it up there sometime.

Welcome to LumberJocks!

This is an awesome group of woodworkers that generously share their talents, passion and interest in woodworking. We are looking forward to your projects and input.

Not to hit you up with this too early, but please notify Tom of any tools you are willing to share with your fellow LumberJocks!

By the way, don’t worry too much about the Lumebrjock Shop Inspection. While it seems intimidating the day they visit, Douglas and Ms Debbie are pretty kind!

LumberJocks is the premier member based woodworking site.

Thanks so much Andy for introducing me to Lumberjocks. What a welcome I’ve had from like-minded people worldwide!
By the way that’s the first I’ve heard of Lumberjock Shop Inspection ! The kettle is always on here in East Yorkshire if I’m on the list!

David, Thanks ever so much for the links to the tour. I was fearful that interest in the tour was so on the wane that I was planning to let it go.

Stewart, all you need to do is post pictures of your workshop, and send me a message. We do the rest with Adobe Photoshop, so you need not stress on the particulars or the tea tray. It’s a great way for other LJs to get to know you.

Andy, you are on my favorites list over and over. You do fantastic work. Like Don, I just love small wooden boxes and yours are special. Welcome, and thanks for sharing your superb boxes. We’d like to get a peak at your shop as well.

I’d love to see your lid hinge method in depth. A video or pictoral blog of this would be worth it’s weigh in gold.

Andy, I Like all your work, small boxes are some of my favorites, glad to see you here. I have a house and some lots in Rockaway Beach and plan to move there sometime in the next few years. I’ll be looking forward to milling some big leaf maple burl and the craft shows there.

Boy it has been a long time since I passed through or even thought about Drain. I lived in Roseburg, Eugene and Springfield as a kid growing up.

Hey Andy. Just checked your projects pages. You have a heck of an array of diverse projects. From the thumbnails they all look very nice, too. I like people with diverse interests.
