Moving shop #2: Shop is back up!

Hello fellow lumber-jocks,

Well we’ve finally got “mostly” unpacked here in Denver, and what a great city! The shop tools made it all very safe and sound, I really only had to do very minor adjustments to true everything back up, which I am thankful to Grizzly and North American Van Lines.

This time the shop space is double from Florida. Yeah! It isn’t by any stretch done being set up but here is a good start.

I had to do some electrical for the planer and so I converted the table saw over to 220v also. I did this to lower my amp draw on the circuit. I also needed a lot more outlets so I made some heavy duty “extension cords” and mounted them to the wall,. This was my option for making the electrical temporary.

After the electrical was up, (I still need to add some good cold weather lighting), the next order of business was the lumber rack. Initially I had a support leg down to the floor in the corner of the rack, however it was cut loose to “settle” and after a week up there with all the wood, the rack never budged so I took the vertical bracing out. Guess Screw’s and Glue’s is stronger than I give it credit for.

Since having tons more space I whipped up these shop tables and a drill press cabinet. Everything is on casters. Total investment for these three functional pieces was just under 200 bucks. So I’m happy about that! I know they aren’t as fancy as a REAL shop bench or cabinet, but I swear I built all three with a skill saw and a framing nailer in 5 hours! Oh, and a cordless screw gun and ratchet set were used.

This bad boy is a huge 96” x 34” and rolls with ease! Although it’s tucked in the corner for now, I intended for it to have access from both sides. Of course vice’s and bench dogs need installed. I’m working on some drawers for underneath.
